Should I try to get a career in what I love, or in what is practical?

Here is my dilema:



I love electrical engineering, but that is extremely impractical and i wouldnt make enough to support a family, but i'd get to do what i love.



OR



I could be an artist and make millions doing something that i hate. Everyday getting up and making crappy art for the man.



WHAT SHOULD I DO???
